Grayslake Illinois Homes and Real Estate
Grayslake,
one of the earliest settlements in Central Lake County, is the
focal point of a growing area which includes Hainesville and
Third Lake. It is a community of homes in developments carved
from rolling farmlands and sprawling estates of an earlier time.
In addition, the Village's downtown area assists in keeping a
"small town" atmosphere in Grayslake. Located in the center of
the community is Gray's Lake, which is the primary recreational
asset of the village.
Recreation:
The Lake County Fairgrounds, a year-round facility located in
Grayslake, is available to all county residents and
organizations. Its central location is ideally suited for
expositions, concerts, and special programs. Public recreational
facilities include over 14 park sites encompassing over 250
acres and a beach. Grayslake Days is an annual community
extravaganza sponsored by the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce in
August.
Schools:
Elementary students in Grayslake are served with several
neighborhood schools as well as a private elementary school.
High school students attend one of two Grayslake Community High
School District #127 schools depending on which side of
Washington Street they reside. Grayslake is also the home of the
main campus of the College of Lake County, a community college
offering transfer, career, adult, and continuing education
courses and programs. The Center for Economic Development
provides specialized training to serve the Lake County business
community.
Housing:
The lake, in the heart of Grayslake, is ringed by many
attractive homes, some dating back to the founding of the
Village in the mid 1800's. The growing number of small
manufacturing firms are utilizing the abundance of industrial
sites, supporting the Village tax base.
Government
Services: The Grayslake Fire Protection District has
numerous full-time firefighters as well as a large contingent of
volunteers. Police protection is provided by a dedicated group
of full-time as well as part-time police officers.
